How to Assemble and Install a Digital Safe in Your Home
When it comes to protecting your family's valuables, installing a digital safe at home is one of the smartest decisions you can make. Whether it is jewellery, cash, or important documents, a home safe gives you genuine security against theft, fire, or accidental loss.
Many customers ask: "How do I assemble and set up a safe on my own?" This step-by-step guide walks you through the entire process — from choosing the right spot to setting your PIN and testing the lock.
Step 1: Choose the Right Location
Before you begin, decide where your safe should go. Ideally, choose a discreet corner of your home that is not immediately visible to visitors. Popular choices for Indian homes include:
- Inside a bedroom wardrobe
- Behind furniture in a study room
- Inside a kitchen or utility cupboard (for compact models)
- In a dedicated home office corner
Avoid placing the safe in the main hall or near the entrance, where it is visible to anyone who enters the home. For Vastu-conscious households, the south-west corner of the home is the recommended placement for a locker.
Step 2: Unpack Your Safe
Carefully remove all packaging from your digital safe. Check that the following are included: the safe itself, the digital keypad cover, emergency override keys (usually two), anchor bolts and hardware, and the instruction manual. Test both emergency keys before installation to confirm they work.
Step 3: Bolt the Safe to the Wall or Floor
This is the most important installation step. An unbolted safe — regardless of how strong its door is — can be picked up and carried away. All Royalsafe models come with pre-drilled mounting holes and anchor bolts included.
- Use a hammer drill to create holes in the wall or concrete floor, aligned with the safe's mounting points
- Insert the anchor bolts into the holes
- Position the safe and tighten the bolts until the safe is completely immovable
- Test by firmly pushing and pulling in all directions — there should be zero movement
Mount on concrete or brick walls wherever possible. Wooden surfaces offer less resistance to forced removal.
Step 4: Set Up the Digital Lock
Turn on your electronic safe by pressing any button on the keypad. Follow the instruction manual to set your first personal passcode:
- Choose a 4–6 digit code that is memorable but not obvious (avoid birthdays or repeated digits)
- Confirm the code by entering it twice
- Test the lock by closing the door and entering your new PIN — verify it opens correctly
- Test a wrong PIN entry to confirm the tamper alarm activates as expected
Step 5: Check the Emergency Key Backup
Every Royalsafe digital safe includes two emergency override keys. These are used only if the batteries run out completely or if the keypad malfunctions. Important: store these keys in a completely different location from the safe — a trusted family member's home, a bank locker, or a separate secure box. Never store the emergency keys near or inside the safe itself.
Step 6: Replace Batteries Proactively
Royalsafe digital safes run on 4 AA batteries and will give a low-battery warning (flashing indicator or beep) 2–4 weeks before complete discharge. Replace batteries as soon as you see the warning — do not wait for the safe to stop working. Keep a set of spare AA batteries at home so you are never caught unprepared.
Step 7: Store Responsibly
Once your safe is installed and locked in, organise what you store inside it:
- Jewellery in one section, documents in another, cash in a third
- Keep the interior clean and uncluttered so you can quickly find what you need
- Always close and lock the safe after every use
- Periodically check the bolt tightness every 6 months
